Zoo Miami

As the only subtropical zoo in the continental US, Zoo Miami is proud to host a broad range of exotic species from locales as widespread as Australia, Asia, and Africa. Also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens, the zoo benefits from Miami’s ideal climate, closely replicating the ecological environments of the diverse animals featured. Make sure you plan your visit beforehand by checking out COVID-related details here.

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

At the Vizcaya Museum, visitors can marvel at 10 acres of sprawling Italianate gardens, as well as the first floor of the ornate main house. The Mediterranean-style mansion, built between 1914 and 1922, is a timeless architectural treasure of Miami. The European gardens are some of the most elaborate in the United States. Make sure to reserve your tickets ahead of time here before visiting.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

The magical oasis at Fairchild Botanic Garden offers an escape to a tropical paradise. Visitors can explore the park in a variety of ways, through trained volunteers or using self-guided options. Their free, narrated tram tours provide an introductory overview of the grounds, with the option to wander through the Garden on your own after. Be sure to check out their year-round butterfly exhibit during your trip as well!

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

Just outside of Downtown Miami, Bill Baggs Cape State Park stuns with breathtaking scenery and plenty of fun activities. While you’re there, take a tour of Cape Florida Light--this lighthouse is the oldest structure in Miami-Dade, with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. Rent a bike and explore their 1.5 mile long bike path. You can also grab a single bike or rent a quad bike so the whole family can peddle together.

Jungle Island

Right in the heart of Miami, Jungle Island is an “eco-adventure theme park like no other.” Set to re-open later this month, they offer ropes courses the whole family can enjoy, with separate options geared specifically towards kids. In addition to aerial game tracks, a trip to the park brings visitors up close and personal with exotic animals like lemurs, sloths, and flamingos. Their indoor trampoline park Flying Squirrel, the largest of its kind, is also set to open soon.
