The Perfect Downtown Beach Day

Mar 10, 2021

With year-round sun and warm weather, it’s easy to argue that any day in Miami is a perfect day. At Monarc, our downtown location’s proximity to stunning beaches makes it even easier to elevate any day to next-level awesome! To ensure a fantastic day the next time you hit our sandy shores, we’ve put together this guide to enjoying the perfect downtown beach day. Read ahead to start planning your next trip to the beach!

Where To Go

Monarc is in close range of a ton of great beach options, any of which make for excellent spots for the perfect beach day. Minutes away from downtown, Historic Virginia Key Beach Park offers a one-mile stretch of sandy beach and recreational options like adrenaline-pumping bike trails to check out as well. Head slightly further south to Key Biscayne and the beaches at Crandon Park and Bill Baggs State Park for more natural beauty and historic sites like the Cape Florida Lighthouse. Or stake out a spot on South Pointe Beach on the southern tip of Miami Beach for fun people-watching and beautiful views of Downtown Miami.

What to Bring

Make sure you have all the necessary accessories for your perfect beach day! Need a new swimsuit? Head to the shops at Mary Brickell Village for the latest in beach-inspired fashion and high-end swimwear. Or check out the Miami fashion on hand at nearby Brickell City Center. And no beach day is complete without a good beach read! Our nearest outpost of local indie book shop Books & Books is temporarily closed, but eBooks are available for purchase and download via their website.

Bike to the Beach

No matter which beach you choose, start the day with a scenic bike ride to your destination. The Rickenbacker Causeway offers easy access to Virginia Key and Key Biscayne, and stunning views of Biscayne Bay along the way. To get to South Beach, take the MacArthur Causeway and enjoy pedaling through the beauty of our surrounding tropical paradise! There are several Citi Bike stations near Monarc for easy single ride or day pass bike rentals.

Fun in the Sun

Rolling out the beach towel and soaking in the gorgeous Miami sun is a perfectly acceptable way to spend a beach day! But if you’re looking for a little more action, there are plenty of activities to take part in on our nearby beaches. In addition to swimming, Crandon Park Beach offers kayaking, paddle boarding, and kite boarding, and plenty of wildlife to explore. Find hiking, fishing, and biking options at Bill Baggs, and opportunities for surfing and volleyball at South Point Park.

Grab a Beach Day Bite

After a day of saltwater and fresh air, it’s time to enjoy a bite to eat! For casual fare, check out Lighthouse Cafe, a seafood restaurant within Bill Baggs Park, or The Lobster Shack near South Point. For a fancier option (be sure to bring a change of clothes), the decadent coastal menu and handcrafted cocktails at Key Biscayne restaurant Lightkeepers offer a satisfying end to a delightful beach trip.
