Holidays at Home

Dec 21, 2020

All of us at Monarc look forward to the holidays as a time to gather with friends and loved ones and celebrate the spirit of the season! Yet, like so many other things this year, we know holiday celebrations might have to look a little different this time around. Fortunately, there’s still plenty of ways to enjoy the festivities while keeping everyone safe! Read ahead for our best ideas for enjoying small-scale and virtual gatherings in 2020:

Virtual Gift Wrapping Party

If you can’t unwrap gifts together this year, turn wrapping them into a fun activity instead! Keep each other company (virtually) while showing off your prettiest gift wrapping skills and sharing tips & tricks for better package-making. For even more festive good times, grab a few friends together over Zoom or FaceTime and compete to see who can wrap the fastest, who has the best bow decorating game in town...you name it!

Online Secret Santa Gift Exchange

It’s been a year full of ups and downs, and many of us may be looking to scale our gift-giving back this year. To keep gift-giving manageable, a Secret Santa gift exchange can be just the thing for watching the budget while still spreading a little holiday cheer! This Secret Santa Generator can help with organizing your group’s exchange. If you’re able to mail gifts ahead of time, get together online to open and try to guess who gifted what!

Instant Holiday Party

Bluebird in a Box created these awesome pre-planned party kits with everything you need for a terrific soireé, all contained in one box curated to your specific party goals. If you’re able to host a (safe, socially-distanced) small-scale gathering this year, then consider streamlining your preparations with their help! Each kit includes a digital blueprint for party planning and all the accessories needed. Check out more info here.

Keep Track of Santa

For those with kiddos at home, tracking Santa is always a cozy, fun way to celebrate Christmas Eve. Use Google Santa Tracker to play cool games and follow Santa up until the big day! You’ll also probably be needing to make some cookies for the occasion. We like these chocolate chip cookies from Delish. They only take about 20 minutes to make, so you can get back to the more important task of keeping an eye on Santa ASAP! For more holiday recipes, check out some of our favorites here.

Cozy Up to a Holiday Movie

Nothing beats a holiday-themed movie and it’s even better when you can share it with others! Use Teleparty (Netflix Party) to screen a movie night together with friends and family. Sit back and enjoy a holiday classic like Home Alone and be sure to grab yourself a nice holiday beverage while you’re at it!

We hope these ideas give you inspiration for festive and safe ways to celebrate this year! From all of us at Monarc, we wish you very Happy Holidays!
