Celebrating Father's Day 2020

Jun 10, 2020

As the country slowly starts to open back up, we’re hopeful that a return to some sense of normalcy will be here soon. But with Father’s Day right around the corner we’re thinking about how to celebrate the special men in our life-- dads, uncles, grandpas, and so on-- without sacrificing anyone’s safety during this unique time. We’ve gathered a list of five ways to make Dad’s day special by honoring some old traditions, as well as finding some new ones to enjoy while still practicing social distancing!

Enjoy a Family Brunch

Cook up a delicious hearty brunch for Father’s Day with all of Dad’s favorite treats. Country Living shares their recipe for a loaded sausage, egg, and roasted tomato sandwich that is sure to hit the spot. You might even try pairing it with one of our delicious summer cocktail and mocktail recipes! Find the full breakfast sandwich recipe here.

Go “Camping”

If you have little ones at home, try setting up camp in the living room for the night. Good Housekeeping recommends rolling out the sleeping bags, making s’mores… maybe even pitching a small tent if there’s room! Dad will get to enjoy sharing ghost stories and camping tales, and it will get kids excited about the next time they can share the full camping experience with Dad in the wild.

Organize a Beer Tasting

Now that many local businesses are open for curbside pickup, how about grabbing a few pints to-go or having them delivered directly to Dad from a neighborhood restaurant? Wynwood Brewing Company and Focal Beer Café are great local options to check out. Whether enjoying virtually or together at home, organize a few rounds of different lagers, IPAs and pilsner to make the experience as close to a visit to Dad’s favorite brewery as possible.

Revisit Iconic Sports Videos

If Dad is a sports fan, he’s surely missing the chance to see live games right now. Try revisiting some classic sports moments together instead. The NFL is offering complimentary access to their NFL game pass through July 31st and the MLB is also offering free access to their 2018 and 2019 archives. Or, check out the documentary mini-series The Last Dance, which focuses primarily on Michael Jordan’s final season with the Chicago Bulls.

Learn a New Skill Together

Give Dad the gift of learning something new this Father’s Day! Town & Country suggests purchasing a MasterClass subscription for access to thousands of lessons taught by experts in their fields. For a more affordable alternative, search Youtube for a variety of free lessons you can share together at home or virtually.

Showing our dads we care this Father’s Day can also be as simple as picking up the phone or sending a card. Let us know how you’re celebrating Dad’s special day this year by tagging #MonarcMet on social media. From all of us at Monarc, we wish you a Happy Father’s Day!
