Celebrate Labor Day Weekend

Sep 2, 2021

Whether or not we’re ready to admit it, the upcoming Labor Day weekend typically marks the last chance for big summer fun. We want to be sure you make the most of everything going on near Monarc, so we’ve rounded up the best sporting events, activities, and must-see sights in and around Miami this holiday. Read ahead and get ready to enjoy the three-day weekend with lots of good times to look forward to!

Football Season Returns

Labor Day weekend signals the unofficial start of fall, which means it’s also time for football season to return! Here in Miami, we’re lucky to have both the Miami Dolphins and the Hurricanes to root for. Find schedule and ticket info for the Dolphins here and for the Hurricanes here. And the Orange Blossom Classic, a football game between Historically Black Colleges and Universities, will return to Miami this Labor Day weekend after a four-decade absence. Florida A&M University will play Jackson State University on Sunday, September 5th at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Find more info and tickets here.

Take a Boat Cruise

Head to Deering Estate on Saturday, September 4th for a special boat cruise of Biscayne National Park. The tour will take passengers past the iconic Stiltsville houses and offers information on the rich history of the area. Advance ticket reservations are required. Find more information and reserve your spot here.

Visit PAMM

Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) will host a special Labor Day event on Monday, September 6th. The festivities will include live music by Soul Brigade with Giacomo xxx on PAMM’s waterfront terrace, free art-making activities, and discounts at the museum’s restaurant Verde. While you’re there, explore the museum’s incredible contemporary art collection and grounds. Entry is free for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families. Find more information and reserve tickets here.

Learn About Sea Turtles

The holiday weekend is a great time to learn more about the awe-inspiring sea turtle population here in Miami! On most Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during hatching season (May through October), Miami Dade Parks hosts a Sea Turtle Awareness Program, providing visitors with information about the endangered sea turtles and a chance to observe the turtle walk and hatchling release process. Learn more and make reservations here.

Miami Spice Restaurant Months

Now through the end of September, enjoy sampling the very best of our city’s restaurant scene during Miami Spice Restaurant Months. Eat at top restaurants this holiday weekend for a fraction of the price, with three-course meals offered at just $28 for lunch/brunch and $42 for dinner. Here in downtown, neighborhood favorites like Fi’lia Restaurant and Pubbelly Sushi Brickell City Centre make the cut. For the full list of participating restaurants and more information, check here.
