Celebrate July 4th in Miami

Jun 29, 2021

Independence Day is just around the corner and 4th of July celebrations are returning this year in a big way! So many of the fantastic ways we love to celebrate the holiday are back, and this weekend is shaping up to be filled with the fun summer traditions we know and love. For more info on what Miami has in store this July 4th weekend, and how to enjoy the festivities, read ahead!

Watch July 4th Fireworks

Though fireworks displays in Miami are somewhat pared back this year, there are still great spots to get your July 4th fireworks fix. Starting Sunday at 7pm, the Town of Miami Lakes and its Cultural Committee will host their 18th annual Fourth of July Fireworks Show. In addition to dazzling pyrotechnics, the event will feature a large LED Wall Screen, a Sound Wave Entertainment Vehicle, and food trucks. General admission tickets are free to this family-friendly event…find more info here.

Stream “A Capitol Fourth”

This year, PBS will stream America’s Independence Day celebration, entitled A Capitol Fourth, to millions of viewers across the country and to troops watching across the globe. The annual evening of entertainment features performances by a slew of notable talent-- including Vanessa Williams, Jimmy Buffett, and the National Symphony Orchestra--and culminates in a fireworks display of epic proportions. Check local listings for show times.

Visit Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden

Head to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden on the 4th for a day filled with events the whole family can enjoy! The garden will host a Celebration Parade for children at 11am, accompanied by music from the Bad Apples Brass Band. Come early for face painting and 4th of July accessories, starting pre-parade at 10am. Afterwards, guests will be treated to a tasty BBQ lunch at the Glasshouse Café, followed by a performance from South Florida favorites Brothers of Others Band and an invitation to peruse Jurassic Garden. Find more information and reserve tickets here.

Host a Holiday Barbecue

Whether staking out a spot poolside here at Monarc or hosting elsewhere, nothing says Happy 4th like a classic holiday barbecue shared with friends and family. In addition to the traditional menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, and corn on the cob, try throwing in a new dish like this Grilled Baby Potato Salad--the yummy twist on potato salad replaces the recipe’s call for mayo with a lighter vinegar and olive oil option. Celebrate at IndepenDANCE

Touted as one of the best Independence Day parties in Miami, IndepenDANCE brings two days of musical acts and dancing to Miami Marine Stadium. The venue’s stunning waterfront location is also the perfect spot to catch a view of the fireworks. Single-day and two-day passes are available to the popular event. Find tickets and more info here.
