2021 Interior Design Trends at Monarc

Mar 17, 2021

Chances are, we’ve all spent a bit more time than usual at home this past year. Which makes it more important than ever to make sure our living spaces feel extra warm, inviting, and unique! This year, we’ve spotted some great new interior design ideas geared towards adding that extra bit of character to any home. Read ahead for Monarc’s take on the top interior design trends of 2021!

Mixed Prints & Fresh Color

According to Insider, the minimalist look of the all-white room may be falling out of favor for 2021. Instead, this year we’re ushering in fresh colors and mixed prints for a fun, upbeat style sure to uplift the mood of any space. Not ready for a total overhaul of a neutral design scheme? Try mixing in a few light-colored patterns for renewed visual interest without changing the entire room concept.

The Age of Eco Chic

As our commitment to sustainability grows, design is becoming more and more environmentally friendly. Eco Chic takes the best of sustainable practices and translates them into a warm and inviting interior design style. With an emphasis on craft and multi-use furniture, this trend favors an earth-toned palette, incorporating colors like golden beige, moss green, soft olive, and burnt orange. Be prepared to see a lot of textured and resilient fabrics like matte velvet, linen, and boucle cropping up as well.

Updated Industrial

Looking for something a little sleeker and more minimalist? No worries… the industrial look is big for 2021 as well. As we spend more time working from home, the update of the no-frills style may be a response to the many functions our living spaces have been asked to play throughout the last year. To add industrial elements to your space, find design pieces that blend the contemporary with the traditional, like wood with metal, and ultra-cool lighting fixtures so eye-catching they function as stand-alone art pieces.

Wicker and Rattan Accents

Tropical and relaxed, try incorporating wicker and rattan pieces to blend Miami vibes with neat retro design. We love the idea of adding a wicker accent chair into a modern living space to add character to the room’s setup. Or mix in some small rattan design pieces to give a more subtle nod to the trending look.

An Everyday Tropical Escape

At Monarc, we’re lucky to live in a warm weather paradise 365-days a year. And House Beautiful says the Distant Shores trend is all about bringing that feeling of vacation island escape right into the home. Think big Hawaiian florals, subtle monotones, and pops of bright color to get the right blend of laid-back beach-y glamour.

Ocean Hues

More than anything, after the year we’ve all had, 2021 is about making our homes a cozy place we want to spend time in. Bring peace, calm, and comfort into the home with a color palette reminiscent of the nearby Atlantic. Ocean hues ranging from deep inky blues and soft acquas to Grecian teals are ideal for creating a soothing and tranquil space. Not sure how to use these colors at home? Throw pillows and other small accessories can be a good place to start when experimenting with new shades.
